Dinamarca: El parlamento contempla hacer obligatorio para las mujeres el día de la defensa

La Comisión de Defensa danesa, creada en 2007 para dirigir el Plan de Defensa Nacional 2010-14 del Gobierno, apuesta por mantener el servicio militar obligatorio, pero recomienda un amplio debate “acerca del futuro valor” del reclutamiento, según un informe presentado en marzo de 2009. El informe de la comisión pide un incremento del gasto de defensa de un 10 a un 15 por ciento para acondicionar una expansión rápida de las fuerzas terrestres danesas y programas de obtención de equipamiento importante.

Agreement has been reached on the defence budget for the next five years that will see extra funding provided to those serving abroad

After almost three months of negotiations a historic political majority was reached last night to secure extra funds for the defence budget.

Conscientious objection: Legal practices and frameworks among EU member states

In this presentation I will give an overview of the right to conscientious objection, its legal practices and frameworks in the 27 European Union member states. Before I do so, I want to step back a bit and have a brief look at the existing international standards about the right to conscientious objection, as these standards allow us to put the practices in the EU member states into a perspective.
