With Sadness, WRI Learned That

Joseph Abileah of Haifa, Israel, passed away on 29 January 1994. One of the first conscientious objectors in Israel, Joseph Abileah served on the Council of the WRI from 1957 to 1969. Joseph, principal violist with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, believed that his musical and peace activities were inextricably intertwined and worked tirelessly for reconciliation between the peoples of the world, especially in his own homeland.

Thérèse Collet, who was the Secretary of Union Pacifiste de France for 25 years, passed away on 19 February 1994. The April issue of the magazine Union Pacifiste will feature an article about her life-time commitment to peace and justice.
